Australian composer and conductor Dr Colin Brumby has passed away - aged 84

Australian composer and conductor Dr Colin Brumby has passed away - aged 84.

A student of composers Philipp Jarnach, Alexander Goehr and Franco Evangelisti, he served a long term teaching position on faculty at the University of Queensland School of Music, in Brisbane, Australia.

He previously served as Music Director of the Queensland Opera Company.

His major contributions to the string repertoire include violin and viola concerti - and a 'Suite for Double Bass Quartet'.
