American violinist Robert Mann has passed away at his home in New York City - aged 97
American violinist Robert Mann has passed away at his home in New York City - aged 97.
Mr Mann was a founding member of the Juilliard String Quartet and performed with the famed ensemble for 51 years - until his retirement in 1997.
He served long term teaching positions on faculty at The Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music - his famed students including the Emerson, Tokyo, Brentano and St Lawrence String Quartets.

A memoir, containing a collection of Mr Mann's essays, letters and interviews will be released by East End Press on February 14th this year.
