BBC Announces New Generation Artists for 2024-26
The seven selected artists and ensembles will receive a range of performance opportunities at prestigious venues around the UK
BBC Radio 3 recently named the seven artists and ensembles who have been accepted onto its New Generation scheme for the next three years. They are as follows:
- Julius Asal, piano (Germany)
- Hana Chang, violin (US)
- Sterling Elliott, cello (US)
- Elizaveta Ivanova, flute (Russia)
- Kleio Quartet (UK)
- Emma Rawicz, jazz saxophone (UK)
- Santiago Sanchez, tenor (Uruguay)
The New Generation scheme, which has been running since 1999, provides performance opportunities across the UK for young musicians who are in the early stages of establishing their careers. The artists will receive recital opportunities, as well as appearances with the BBC orchestras, at the Proms, and at renowned concert venues such as the Wigmore Hall and Snape Maltings.
The selected artists will overlap with the 2023-25 cohort, which comprises James Atkinson, the Chaos String Quartet, Alim Beisembayev, Giorgi Gigashvili, Niamh O'Sullivan, Michael Pandya, and Johanna Wallroth.
"It has been 25 years since Radio 3 started supporting the development of outstanding young artists with a dedicated scheme," said Emma Bloxham, BBC Radio 3 Commissioning Editor. "Many of the NGAs have gone on to become some of the biggest names in classical music, and I’m sure audiences will share in the excitement as we celebrate this milestone year in the scheme’s history, continuing to expand the NGA family and strengthening our connections with partners across the UK."
"I really look forward to our collaboration with venues all over the country, providing a springboard for these young artists at such a crucial moment in their careers through performance opportunities and broadcasts to millions of listeners at home."
