BBC Announces New Generation Artists for 2025-27
VC Artist NOVO Quartet is one of the selected artists and ensembles who will receive numerous performance opportunities around the UK
Now in its 25th anniversary year, the BBC’s New Generation Artists (NGA) is a talent development initiative for young instrumentalists, singers, and ensembles at the start of their international careers.
BBC Radio 3’s NGAs for the September 2025 to December 2027 cohort are:
- Astatine Trio – pianist Berniya Hamie, violinist Maja Horvat, and cellist Riya Hamie (UK)
- Erika Baikoff, soprano (Russia/USA)
- Andrew Hamilton, baritone (UK)
- NOVO Quartet – violinists Kaya Kato Møller and Nikolai Vasili Nedergaard, violist Daniel Śledziński, and cellist Signe Ebstrup Bitsch (Denmark)
- Oleg Shebeta-Dragan, clarinet (Ukraine)
- Lukas Sternath, piano (Austria)
These artists will receive recital opportunities, plus appearances with the BBC orchestras, at the Proms, and at venues such as the Wigmore Hall and Snape Maltings. They will also join the 2024-26 NGAs, who will complete the program in December 2026.
Additionally, the NGAs will feature on regular BBC Radio 3 broadcasts, which play all over the UK and across Europe through the European Broadcasting Union.
“It’s always an exciting moment when we reveal the names of those outstanding young musicians we’ve chosen to join the NGA family for the next two years,” said BBC Radio 3 Commissioning Editor, Live Music, Emma Bloxham.
“Each and every one of them brings something very special to the table, and I’ve absolutely no doubt their live concert performances and exclusive studio recordings will delight Radio 3 listeners,” she added. “It’s a privilege to be involved with such talented young people at this stage in their careers, and we look forward to making great things happen together!”
