UK's 2018 BBC ‘Young Musician of the Year’ Category Finalists Announced
The 25 category finalists have been announced in London for the 2018 ‘BBC Young Musician of the Year‘ Awards
The 25 category finalists have this week been announced in London for the 2018 ‘BBC Young Musician of the Year‘ Awards.
Widely regarded as the UK’s leading competition for young classical music soloists 18 years and younger, previous title winners include violinist Nicola Benedetti - and VC Artists Jennifer Pike and Sheku Kanneh-Mason.
The 2018 category finalists are:
Strings: Elodie Chousmer-Howelles, Maxim Calver, Stephanie Childress, Torrin Williams and Will Duerden.
Keyboard: Adam Heron, Elias Ackerley, Jeneba Kanneh-Mason, Lauren Zhang and Mariam Loladze-Meredith.
Woodwinds: Eliza Haskins, Francis Bushell, Marie Sato, Robert Burton and Tom Myles.
Brass: Annemarie Federle, Isobel Daws, Michaias Berlouis, Sam Dye and Will Thomas.
Percussion: Alexander Pullen, Matthew Brett, Meadow Brooks, Tom Hall and Toril Azzalini-Machecler.

The category finals will take place from the 16th-23th March at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire – with the grand final to be held on the 13th May at Birmingham's Symphony Hall.
