British singer-songwriter Freddie Mercury died on this day in 1991 – aged 45.
The lead vocalist and songwriter for the rock band Queen, he is remembered for his flamboyant stage persona and four-octave range.
His compositions include 'Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Somebody to Love”, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” and “We are the Champions”.
Freddie passed away in 1991 from an AIDs related illness.
