German-born British cellist Susanne Beer has passed away following a battle with melanoma - aged just 52.

A student of William Pleeth, Susanne served as longtime Principal Cellist with the London Philharmonic and the contemporary music Ensemble Wien - and held teaching positions on faculty at London's Guildhall School of Music and the Royal Academy of Music.
