The Chicago Symphony Orchestra has announced the retirement of long-serving violinist Paul Phillips Jr from the ensemble
The Chicago Symphony Orchestra has today announced the retirement of long-serving violinist Paul Phillips Jr from the ensemble - effective at the end of the 2019-2020 season.
A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied with William Kroll, Paul joined the orchestra in 1980 – then under the direction of Music Director, Sir Georg Solti.
He will be recognized with the 'Theodore Thomas Medallion for Distinguished Service' - in recognition of his outstanding service to the symphony.
