American composer, pianist, conductor and pedagogue Donald Keats has passed away – aged 88.
He served a professorship on faculty at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music between 1976 and 1999 – and had a large body of his works published by Boosey & Hawkes.
His most well-known and widely performed works include his piano sonata, String Quartet No. 2 and his ‘Elegiac’ Symphony – dedicated to the death of his first-born son.
Our condolences are with Mr Keats’ family, friends, colleagues and students.
