Conductor and Composer Sean Mayes Signs with Opus 3 Artists
Mayes will be represented worldwide by Matthew Oberstein
Conductor and composer Sean Mayes is the most recent musician to join the roster at Opus 3 Artists, where he will receive worldwide representation from the company's Senior Vice President, Matthew Oberstein.
Hailing originally from Toronto, Mayes has a broad range of expertise across both classical music and music theater. In the latter, he recently conducted the Tony-winning productions MJ: The Musical and Hadestown, as well as the American Pops Orchestra in Black Broadway: A Proud History, A Limitless Future on PBS.
Further credits include The Voice of Whitney: A Symphonic Celebration at the Ravinia Festival with the Chicago Philharmonic, as well as the new musical Mandela, inspired by the life of Nelson Mandela and co-produced by the Mandela family.
As a composer, Mayes co-wrote Aportia Chryptych: A Black Opera for Portia White with the Canadian multidisciplinary artist HAUI and also conducted the premiere performance at the Canadian Opera Company.
As a pedagogue, Mayes is a part-time Professor of Musical Theater at Canada's Sheridan College. He has also appeared as a guest instructor at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, Marymount College Manhattan, and the Guildford School of Acting (UK).
Other conductors on the Opus 3 roster include Marin Alsop, Karina Canellakis, JoAnn Falletta, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Mei-Ann Chen, and Teddy Abrams.
