Continuo Foundation Awards Third Round of Grants
The UK-based Continuo Foundation announced the recipients of its third round of grants, available for projects that will take place between April and October 2022.
The grants prioritized projects which employ freelance musicians, facilitate performances in less well-off regions, and/or create opportunities for a program to be taken on tour.
Open to UK-based professional ensembles made up of three or more players — who play either period instruments or faithful replicas and focus on repertoire from the Middle Ages through to the early nineteenth century — the foundation now supports a total of 51 ensembles.
This round of grants also took into account ensembles that have only formed recently, whose lack of performance history might have prevented them from receiving a grant in 2021. The foundation acknowledges the various challenges associated with getting a new ensemble off the ground and presenting live performances during the pandemic.
Those third-round recipients who will resume activity after being hindered by the pandemic include Apollo’s Cabinet, Irlandiani Players, Manchester Baroque, Noxwode Baroque and The Spinacino Consort.
