ON THIS DAY | Violin Virtuoso Váša Příhoda Died 61 Years Ago
The Czech violin virtuoso passed away in 1960 from heart disease at age 59 — three months after his last concert
A Paganini specialist and second-generation Sevcik pupil, Příhoda is remembered for his dazzling technique, clear articulation, and beauty of tone.
After World War II, he struggled career-wise due to criticism of his decision to work in Germany under Nazi rule and was unable to return to his home country for a number of years.
