Lahti Symphony Orchestra Appoints New Principal Conductor
The Lahti Symphony Orchestra, in Finland has today announced the appointment of Russian-born Dima Slobodeniouk as their new Principal Conductor.
Maestro Slobodeniouk, who currently also serves as Music Director of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, will replace Okku Kamu - who will step down from the role in September 2016.
‘I was lucky enough to be able to build and maintain a very open and fruitful relationship with Lahti Symphony Orchestra ever since I first conducted them in 2001," Slobodeniouk has said in a statement, "...this is a big honour and a challenge for me to create something new on the foundation of a great orchestra tradition."
The 39 year old will also assume the responsibiliy of Artistic Director of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra's Sibelius Festival
