Deutsche Grammophon has announced the release of Hungarian double bass virtuoso Ödön Rácz's new album: 'My Double Bass'
Deutsche Grammophon has announced the release of Hungarian double bass virtuoso Ödön Rácz's new album: My Double Bass.
Recorded with violinist, VC Artist Noah Bendix-Balgley, pianist János Balázs, conductor Speranza Scappucci and the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, the disc features Bottesini's Gran Duo Concertante for Violin, Double Bass & Strings, Piazzólla's Le Grand Tango - and Nino Rota's Divertimento Concertante for Double Bass and Orchestra.
"My number one goal with this album was to present the double bass as a solo instrument and showcase some of the most beautiful repertoire ever written for my instrument ..." Ödön has told The Violin Channel.
"My hope is that listeners will come away with the impression that the double bass is not the last or least instrument of the string family ... but rather a true solo instrument - capable of immense virtuosity and beauty," the 37-year-old Vienna Philharmonic bassist has said.
"It was a pleasure to record the Bottesini Gran Duo Concertante with my friend Ödön Racz and the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra ... it is a joy to play it with Ödön - a true superhero of the bass ... I am in awe of what he does on the instrument," Violinist, VC Artist Noah Bendix-Balgley has told The Violin Channel.
