Applications are now closing for the 2020 Elmar Oliveira International Violin Competition

Applications are this week closing for the 2020 Elmar Oliveira International Violin Competition – to be held at the Lynn University Conservatory of Music in Boca Raton, United States from 14th to the 26th of January, 2020.

Open to candidates of any nationality, aged between 16 and 32, the 1st prize winner will receive US $30,000, significant career development, publicity and management support – plus a number of important performance opportunities.

One of the 2020 Finalists will also be awarded a new $2500 Community Engagement prize – judged by an independent jury panel, following a compulsory 45-minute interactive recital with local school children.

Travel stipends and host families will be available for all accepted competitors.

The 2020 jury will comprise: David Cerone (Chairman), Andrés Cárdenes, Ilya Kaler, Sung-Ju Lee, Silvia Marcovici, Mihaela Martin, Gerardo Ribeiro, Barry Shiffman and Kathleen Winkler.

"I believe in transparency, in fairness above all else when it comes to the EOIVC ... not only do we post all our results online throughout the competition, we have a very strict recusal process ... any violation or misrepresentation on a disclosure form is immediate dismissal of a competitor or judge. Period ... We take this very seriously ..." Competition Founder and Artistic Director Elmar Oliveira has this week told The Violin Channel.

"Seriously, if you are thinking about entering one competition this year, this should be the one,” the former 1st prize winner at the Tchaikovsky Competition has said.
