Gewandhausorchester Leipzig Announce New Principal 2nd Violinist

The Gewandhausorchester Leipzig has announced the appointment of French violinist David Castro-Balbi as their new Principal 2nd violinist

The Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, in Leipzig, Germany has announced the appointment of 24 year old French violinist David Castro-Balbi as their new principal 2nd violinist.

A graduate of the Paris Conservatoire and current post-graduate student at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar, David is a former 1st prize winner at the Louis Spohr and Mirecourt International Violin Competitions.

He currently serves as principal 2nd violinist with the Staatskapelle Weimar.
