Prizes Awarded at Friends of the Minnesota Orchestra Competition
21-year-old harpist Grace Roepke has been awarded 1st prize at the 2019 Friends of the Minnesota Orchestra Competition
21-year-old harpist Grace Roepke from the United States has been awarded 1st prize at the 2019 Friends of the Minnesota Orchestra Competition – in Minneapolis.
A student of Yolanda Kondanassis at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Grace is a former 1st prize winner at the Cleveland Institute of Music Concerto Competition.
She will receive US $8,500 – plus a performance engagement with the Minnesota Orchestra.
2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to cellist Alexander Hersh and violinist Eva Aronian
The 2019 jury comprised members of the Minnesota Orchestra - plus Music Director Osmo Vanska.
Previous 1st prize winners include: violinist James Ehnes and Lara St. John - and VC Young Artists Matthew Lipman and Brannon Cho.
