Hervé Boissière Resigns from Medici.tv Platform After 17 Years at the Helm

Medici.tv was born at the 2007 Verbier Festival, with Boissière envisioning the platform as classical music's version of YouTube

Hervé Boissière, the founder and managing director of the medici.tv platform, has resigned after 17 years of running the company.

An entrepreneur and ambassador for classical music, Boissière created medici.tv at the Verbier Festival in 2007. Having seen howthe Napster platform permanently altered the CD industry, Boissière envisioned medici.tv as being classical music's version of YouTube. The platform initially had a "freemium" model, in which some content was free and some behind a paywall.

Over the course of Boissière's time running the platform, medici.tv has streamed more than 3,500 live broadcasts from 5 continents, and hosts one of the largest performing arts libraries available online worldwide.

Boissière previously held senior management positions at the Warner Classics and naïve labels, as well as having been the Executive Director role of the Mezzo television channel and the Director of Berlin's EuroArts production company.

It was recently announced that Boissière will become Co-CEO of the Verbier Festival on April 15, 2024. He will work alongside the festival's founder, Martin Engstroem.

"I am really excited to start again from scratch, to continue to learn an infinite variety of things, and experience a completely new challenge full of potential," Boissière said.

"In 2007, live video streaming was almost non-existent, and we developed a fantastic platform to support the artists and connect musicians and audiences. After 17 years, the young child is in superb shape, run by amazing people."

"It is with a huge gratitude to all the artists, colleagues, partners, shareholders, and all my friends, music lovers and mentors around the world that I am stepping back today from medici.tv, with a special tribute to my family who supported me day and night during all these years!"
