Honens International Piano Competition Appoints John Kieser as President
The Canadian arts administrator is currently Director of Partnerships at IDAGIO
Canadian-born arts administrator John Kieser will take up his new post as the new President and CEO of Canada's Honens International Piano Competition on July 1, 2023.
Kieser comes to the position from his twin roles as Director of Partnerships for IDAGIO GmbH and Media Consultant for the New World Symphony. He has a wealth of previous experience in high-level music administration, including as Executive Vice President and Provost for New World Symphony.
Earlier in his career, Kieser served as General Manager for the San Francisco Symphony. During this time, he created SFS Media — which produced the multi-media project Keeping Score, as well as many GRAMMY Award-winning recordings.
“John Kieser brings to the table extensive experience in working with young artists and a proven track record of supporting diversity in the arts through his work at the New World Symphony," said Siân Matthews, Chair of the Honens board. "We are delighted to have him join the Honens team."
"I am honored to be joining the Honens family," John Kieser said. "Together we will advance the mission, vision, and values of this prestigious organization while serving communities in Calgary, nationally, and internationally on a journey to the next level."
