The New York-based Horszowski Trio has today announced the appointment of German cellist Ole Akahoshi to the ensemble.
He will replace cellist Raman Ramakrishnan – who had been with the ensemble for the past 9 years.
A graduate of the The Juilliard School, Yale University School of Music and Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, where he studied with Pierre Fournier, Aldo Parisot and Janos Starker, Ole has served as Principal Cellist with the Sejong Soloists - and currently holds teaching positions on faculty at the Yale University School of Music, Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Division and Bard College's Longy School of Music.
"I have been admiring the Horszowski Trio for many years and being on stage with them has always been a tremendously invigorating, inspiring, and highly gratifying experience for me ..." Ole has today said.
"I have the highest respect for Raman Ramakrishnan, who has been such a beautiful musical foundation for this trio for the last nine years ... I hope to continue Raman’s inspiring tradition while bringing my own personal story to the group ... I look forward to our upcoming musical journeys and discoveries,” he has said.
