Danish jazz violinist, composer and vaudevillian Svend Asmussen has passed away - aged 100

Danish jazz violinist, composer and vaudevillian Svend Asmussen has passed away - aged 100.

He will be remembered as one of the first world-class jazz musicians from Scandinavia - and as one of the first international jazz violinists of note.

Affectionately known as ‘The Fiddling Viking’, during his 8 decade career Mr Asmussen played and recorded with many of the greats of Jazz - including Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and Stephane Grappelli.
