Ji-Won Song Awarded 1st Prize at Leopold Mozart International Violin Competition
Ji-Won Song has been awarded 1st prize at the 2016 9th Leopold Mozart International Violin Competition, in Augsburg
23 year old Ji-Won Song, from South Korea has been awarded 1st prize at the 2016 9th Leopold Mozart International Violin Competition, in Augsburg, Germany.
2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to 16 year old Ziyu He, from China and 23 year old Jae Hyeong Lee, from South Korea.
Currently a student of Donald Weilerstein and Soovin Kim at the New England Conservatory and a graduate of The Curtis Institute, Ji-Won is a former 1st prize winner at the Schoenfeld and China International Violin Competitions.
She will receive €10,000 (US $12,000), a CD recording – and a number of important European engagements.
The ‘Youth Jury Prize’ of €1500 was awarded to Jae Hyeong Lee.
The ‘Commission’ prize of €1500 for the best performance of Johannes X Schachtner’s ‘Florilegium - Homage a Leopold Mozart’ was awarded to Ziyu He.
The ‘Commission’ prize of €1500 for the best performance of Franz Xaver Klein Heinz’s Trio was awarded to Haruna Shinoyama.
The €2000 ‘Audience’ Prize was awarded to Ji Won Song.
