Juilliard Students to Perform Benefit Concert for Ukraine
“Like many of my peers, with a heavy heart, I have been closely watching the situation unfold in Ukraine, and I hope to be of help,” Juilliard student cellist Bethany Bobbs told The Violin Channel.
At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bobbs established a non-profit organization with her twin sister called Harmony for Healing, which aimed to provide relief to struggling artists.
The venture was successful, with the organization raising $5,000 of donations for 50 artists in need through just one concert in 2020. The funds were then used to assist artists struggling financially during the lockdowns. Now, Bobbs hopes to do the same to support the people of Ukraine.
As part of Harmony for Healing, several students from the Juilliard School alongside those of the Perlman Music Program will be producing a virtual concert on March 12 at 7 PM EST — to be live-streamed on the Harmony for Healing YouTube channel.
The funds raised through the benefit concert will go towards United Help Ukraine – a fully volunteer-based organization providing medical aid and support to Ukrainians.
“Harmony for Healing is endeavoring to raise money to fund the shipment of medical supplies and humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine,” the organization wrote on their donations page. “With your help, we hope to achieve our goal of raising $10,000, and help the world heal through harmony.”
