Junior Semi-Finalists Announced at China’s Zhuhai International Mozart Competition
The 12 Junior candidates progressing to the Semi-Final of the 2017 Zhuhai International Mozart Competition have been announced
The 12 Group A (12 Years and Under) candidates progressing to the Semi-Final round of the 2017 2nd Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians have today been announced - in Zhuhai, China.
The 2017 Group A Semi Finalists are:
- Jiachen Cao (11, China)
- Chloe Chua (10, Singapore)
- Junxi Li (11, China)
- Yaokun Li (11, China)
- Adam Michael Liley (12, Poland/United Kingdom)
- Clara Shen (12, Germany)
- Jingyi Wang (11, China)
- Shihan Wang (12, China)
- Xiaozhuo Wang (10, China)
- Jinan Woo (10, South Korea)
- Muyang Wu (11, China)
- Jingyun Zhang (12, China)
For the Semi-Final stage, each Junior candidate will present a movement from a Schubert sonata or sonatina, a virtuosic showpiece of their own choice - plus the 1st or 3rd movements from the Bruch, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saens 3rd or Wieniawski 2nd Violin Concerti or the Lalo ‘Symphony Espagnole’.
This year’s competition is held in 3 age categories: Group A (12 Years and Under), Group B (13 to 16 Years Old) and Group C (17 to 23 Years Old).
Presented by the University of Mozarteum Salzburg, the Junior Group A 1st prize winner to receive US $7,500.
The 2017 jury comprises: Paul Roczek (Artistic Director), Friedemann Eichhorn (Jury Chair), Shmuel Ashkenasi, Harald Eggebrecht, Ani Schnarch, Akiko Tatsumi, Weidong Tong and Lina Yu.
