Las Vegas Philharmonic Names New Artistic Consultant
Leonard Slatkin will step into the position from the 2024/25 season
The Las Vegas Philharmonic (LVP) recently announced that Leonard Slatkin will serve as its Artistic Consultant, beginning with the 2024/25 season. Slatkin will steward the orchestra while they continue their search for a new Music Director, following the resignation of Donato Cabrera — who will stand down in May 2024.
A sought-after guest conductor, Slatkin is presently Music Director Laureate of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Directeur Musical Honoraire of the Orchestre National de Lyon, Conductor Laureate of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and Principal Guest Conductor of the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria.
A six-time GRAMMY Award winner, Slatkin also holds the National Medal of Arts, and the rank of Chevalier in France's Légion d'honneur.
He has conducted almost every the leading orchestras in the world and has held Music Directorships in New Orleans, St. Louis, Washington, DC, London (with the BBCSO), Detroit, and Lyon.
The LVP will announce its 2024/25 season in February, and current subscribers will have priority ticket access to renew their seats.
