Leonidas Kavakos to Cancel Upcoming Concerts Due to ‘Family Emergency’
It has been announced that violinist Leonidas Kavakos has withdrawn from a number of upcoming Festival performances - due to a family emergency
It has been announced today that violinist Leonidas Kavakos has withdrawn from his Saturday July 22nd and Sunday July 23rd performances at the Bravo! Vail Festival, in Vail, Colorado - due to a family emergency.
Saturday’s programmed concerto will be replaced by New York Philharmonic Concertmaster Frank Huang - in a performance of Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5 in A Major with conductor Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic.
Sunday’s programmed concerto will be substituted by Russian virtuoso pianist Daniil Trifonov performing Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 - also with Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic.
It will be both artists’ Bravo! Vail solo debuts.
The Verbier Festival has also confirmed the 49 year old violin virtuoso has canceled his performance on July 30th - but is hoping to return to the Swiss festival for the three planned concerts on August 1st, 3rd and 5th.
