SAD NEWS | Acclaimed Italian Violin Maker and Teacher Francesco Bissolotti has Died [RIP]

Acclaimed Italian violin maker and teacher Francesco Bissolotti has passed away – aged 89

Acclaimed Italian violin maker and teacher Francesco Bissolotti has passed away – aged 89.

A graduate of the Cremona International School of Violin Making, where he studied with Pietro Sgarabotto, Ferdinando Garimberti and Giuseppe Ornati, Mr Bissolotti went on to serve a long term teaching position at the school - and maintained a respected workshop in the city’s Via Milazzo.

His instruments were played by a number of international soloists - including violinists Uto Ughi and Salvatore Accardo and violist Kim Kashkashian.

Our condolences are with Mr Bissolottii’s family, friends, colleagues and students.
