29-year-old Nagao Haruka from Japan has been awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Carl Flesch International Violin Competition
29-year-old Nagao Haruka from Japan has just minutes ago been awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Carl Flesch International Violin Competition – in Mosonmagyaróvár, Hungary.
Joint 2nd prize was awarded to 23-year-old Feng Eryu from China and 18-year-old Louisa Staples from Great Britain.
3rd prize was awarded to 27-year-old Julia Turnovsky from Austria.
A graduate of the Tokyo National University of Music and current post-graduate student of the competition's jury chair Eszter Perenyi at the Liszt Academy in Budapest, Nagao is a former prize winner at the Lyon, Akiyoshidai and Leo International Chamber Music Competitions.
She will receive €4000.
Open to European-based violinists 30 years and younger, previous 1st prize winners include VC Young Artist Lara Boschkor.
The 2018 jury comprised: Eszter Perényi (President), Márta Ábrahám, Jurgis Dvarionas, Frantisek Novotny and Michael Vaiman.
