The New York-based ARKAI duo, comprising violinist Jonathan Miron and cellist Philip Sheegog, performing their original, peace-inspired composition, ‘Aurora’ For Violin & Cello.
Recorded in July, 2019 – at the Alchemical Studios, in New York City.
"We wrote Aurora for the recent Peace First Summit, hosted by President Obama’s sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng ... the summit was a gathering of young entrepreneurs, artists and guest speakers from around the country - including students from the Parkland High School ... " Jonathan has this week told The Violin Channel.
"The convention was designed to help spur a youth-driven peace movement through thoughtful conversations and invigorating artistic performances and this was our contribution to the event - a musical reflection on the recent gun violence tragedies ..." the Chamber Music America Ensemble Forward grant recipients have said.
"Both of us are drawn to narrative music and the idea of taking our audiences on a journey - and for this piece we wanted to create an atmosphere that spoke to the human process of responding to grief."
