Originally written for two double basses, Bottesini's Grand Duo Concertante was arranged for violin and double bass by Camillo Sivori.

Augustin and Foley play the last few minutes of the piece here with pianist Chelsea de Souza.

A graduate of the Istituto Mascagni and The Juilliard School, Hadelich is a former first prize winner at the Indianapolis International Violin Competition and recipient of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, Warner Music Prize, and Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship. He frequently performs as a soloist with the greatest orchestras around the world.

In 2016, Hadelich won a Grammy Award in the “Best Classical Instrumental Solo” category for his recording of Dutilleux’s violin concerto L’arbre des songes with Ludovic Morlot and the Seattle Symphony. In June 2021, he was appointed to the violin faculty at the Yale School of Music.

A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied with Edgar Meyer and Hal Robinson, Foley is a former first prize winner at the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, Astral National Auditions, and the Sphinx Competition. He was recently recognized on New York WQXR’s “19 for 19” Artists to Watch list and featured on PBS Thirteen’s NYC-ARTs. In 2018, he was awarded a prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant.

Also a composer, Foley was co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall, the Sphinx Organization, and New World Symphony to write a new work entitled “For Justice and Peace” for violin, bass, and string orchestra. The piece was recently performed at venues like Carnegie Hall, as part of a program designed to promote social justice.
