Rattle Records has this month announced the release of Bulgarian violinist Bella Hristova‘s new 4-CD set: ‘Beethoven: The Violin Sonatas‘.

Recorded with acclaimed pianist Michael Houstoun, the set features Beethoven’s 10 complete Violin and Piano Sonatas.

“I feel the power of Beethoven’s music deeply, and it resonates within me perhaps more than the music of any other composer … ” Bella has this week told The Violin Channel.

“My first truly significant exposure to Beethoven was in 2008 when I toured New Zealand with my dear friend Michael Houstoun and we performed the ‘Kreutzer’ Sonata ten times in a row … playing that piece night after night, it became a dream of mine to one day perform and record the complete cycle with Michael and this recording is truly a dream come true … ” the 2007 Michael Hill International Violin Competition 1st prize winner has said.

“I have been tremendously inspired by Michael’s artistry and musical integrity … to perform this music together has been a most emotional and fulfilling journey, made all the more meaningful by this opportunity to share our recording with the world.”
