OUT NOW | Violist Jesus Rodolfo's New CD: "Remembering Russia"
Released today, October 8, the album features pieces by Prokofiev, Rachmaninov, and Stravinsky
Pentatone Records announced the release of Spanish violist Jesus Rodolfo's new CD: "Remembering Russia."
The CD presents arrangements by Vadim Borisovsky of Sergei Prokofiev's "Romeo & Juliet," the transcription for viola and piano by Vadim Borisovsky of Sergei Rachmaninov's "Sonata for cello and piano in G Minor," and Jesus Rodolfo's transcription of Igor Stravinsky's Suite Italienne “Pulcinella” (1925 versio).
"I wanted to record an album about love, and the art that comes with love," Jesus told The Violin Channel.
"I am a passionately romantic man, and I wanted to show that part of me, displaying a broadly rich range of affections. I also felt that the feelings of love, decency, hope and optimism prevailing against mortality, mistrust, injustice and uncertainty, were in touch with what the world has demonstrated throughout the last few months.
"I grew up listening to music by Russian composers, and like those chosen in this album, I left my home country and came to the United States looking for inspiration, to develop my career, and ultimately find who I really am.
"I hope everyone who listens to this recording feels inspired and empowered to start and/or continue their own journey to find their true self."
