Solo Musica has announced the release of the German-based Voyager Quartet's new album: 'Schubert: Winterreise for String Quartet'.
The disc features excerpts from Schubert's 'Winterreise' D911.
''From the very beginning, the Voyager Quartet has conceived programs that create a close link between the works performed and the concept of "Journey" ... thus there was the journey into space, with the space probe Voyager and the music on the 'Golden Record', but also the journey into the inner universe of man as it is especially strongly expressed in Schönberg's 'Transfigured Night' or Schubert's last string quartet ..." violist Andreas Höricht has this month told The Violin Channel.
"So it was obvious to conceive a winter journey next ...'' he has said.
''With this new version, a new view of the work should be achieved ... the atonal transitions ensure that one enters the new song in a grounded and fresh manner ... with our sound we also try to take the listeners on a journey between dream, memory and reality.''
