Prizes Announced at the 2024 Stuttgart International Violin Competition
South Korean violinist Anna Im won first prize at the 2nd edition of the competition in Stuttgart, Germany
The Stuttgart International Violin Competition, organized by the Guadagnini Foundation and the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts, recently came to a close.
In the Final Round, the four finalists played first with the Lotus Quartett, then with the Stuttgart Philharmonic and conductor Ariel Zuckermann.
Violinist Anna Im was awarded first prize, € 30,000, and concert engagements with the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonie Südwestfalen, the Robert-Schumann-Philharmonie Chemnitz, the Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle Schwerin, the Erfurt Philharmonic Orchestra as well as further recitals.
Anna will also be granted a loan of a violin made by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini in 1746.
Second prize, consisting of € 15,000 and the one-year loan of a violin by J&A Beare went to Ruslan Talas from Kazakhstan.
Third prize and € 10,000 was given to Matthew Hakkarainen from the U.S., while fourth prize and € 5,000 went to Xiaozhuo Wang from China.
The € 3,000 special prize for the best interpretation of the commissioned piece by composer David Philip Hefti went to Jakow Pavlenko.
As first and second prize winners, Anna and Ruslan will also be entitled to an exclusive online consultation with muvac, aimed at enriching their digital presence.
The 2024 jury comprised of Ingolf Turban (President), Shmuel Ashkenasi, Ulf Wallin, Hagai Shaham, Suyoen Kim, Rudolf Koelman, Dr. Harald Eggebrecht, Josef Rissin, and Stefan Fehlandt.
