Prizes Awarded at Malta’s International Violin Making Competition

The Malta International Violin Making Competition category prize winners have been announced - at the Central Academy of Arts, in Valletta, Malta.
In the violin category, a gold medal was awarded to Chinese violin maker Yu Hiudong.
Yu Hiudong was also awarded 1st prize in the Modern Violin category of the 2016 Santa Cecilia International Violin Making Competition.
Silver medals were presented to instrument makers Paolo Trazzi from Italy and Chen Xiang Wei from China.
Bronze medals were also awarded to Paolo Trazzi and Chen Xiang Wei - in addition to Guo Mingkui from China, Seung Jin Lee from South Korea, Gino Sfarra of Italy, Bruno Fulcini from Italy and Yang Jinlong from China.
In the viola category, a gold medal was awarded to Italian instrument maker Marco Osio.
Silver medals were presented to Han Zhaosheng of China and Seung Jin Lee from South Korea.
Bronze medals were awarded to Zhao Yi and Wang Yanli from China.
This year’s jury comprised: Zheng Quan, Christophe Landon and Simeone Morassi.
