"For my piece, Hora Bessarabia, I have drawn inspiration from Eastern European Gypsy music – using Romanian melodies and fiendish-but-fun Bulgarian Gypsy rhythms,” Roxanna has said.

19 year old American violinist, Ariel Horowitz performing Polish-British composer, Roxanna Panufnik’s newly-premiered work ‘Hora Bessarabia’ for Solo Violin.

"For my piece, Hora Bessarabia, I have drawn inspiration from Eastern European Gypsy music – using Romanian melodies and fiendish-but-fun Bulgarian Gypsy rhythms,” Roxanna has said.

The 5 minute piece, including notated foot stomping, was commissioned as a set work for the 2016 Menuhin International Violin Competition.
