American conductor Irwin Hoffman has died - aged 93

American conductor Irwin Hoffman has died - aged 93.

A prodigy of legendary conductor Serge Koussevitsky, he was a former titled conductor with the Chicago Symphony - and former Music Director of the Vancouver Symphony, Florida Orchestra, Bogota Philharmonic, Chile Symphony and the Costa Rica National Symphony.

He is the father of cello virtuoso Gary Hoffman.

Our condolences are with his family, friends and colleagues.
