9 Year Old Violinist Awarded Top Prize at Andrea Postacchini International Competition
9 year old violinist Samuel Tan, from Singapore has been awarded the ‘Postacchini Prize’ at the 2014 Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition, in Fermo, Italy – out-scoring competitors almost four times his age.
The prodigious 9 year, who was, in addition awarded 1st prize in the 8-11 year old category, will receive a Francesco Piasentini violin, a Walter Barbiero bow and a €1,300 (USD $1760) cash prize.

2nd prize was awarded to 11 year old Jelena Jorvat, from Servia – and 3rd prize to Lora Markova, from Bugaria.
14 year old Sophie Wang, from Taiwan was awarded 1st prize in the 12-16 year old category.
2nd prize was awarded to Angelina Gvozdareva, from Russia – and 3rd prize to Agafiya Grigoryeva, from Russia.
No 1st prize was awarded in the 17-21 year old category.
2nd prize was awarded to 19 year old Ririko Noborisaka, from Japan – and 3rd prize to Charlotte Saluste-Bridoux, from France.
No 1st prize was awarded in the 22-35 year old category.
2nd prize was awarded to 27 year old Stephan Lavrov, from Russia – and 3rd prize to 28 year old Yoon Jung Yang, from South Korea.
