The Seattle Symphony has this week announced Danish conductor Thomas Dausgaard as their new Music Director - effective from the commencement of the 2018-19 season.
He has served as the orchestra’s Principal Guest Conductor since 2014.
“Maestro Dausgaard has produced some of the most electrifying concerts we’ve heard in Benaroya Hall these last few years,” Symphony Board Chair Leslie Jackson Chihuly has said.
The 54 year old will succeed Ludovic Morlot - who announced in April of this year he will be stepping down from the position, after his 8th season at the helm.
Thomas currently serves as Chief Conductor of the Swedish Chamber Orchestra and BBC Scottish Symphony - and as Honorary Conductor of the Orchestra della Toscana and the Danish National Symphony.
