The 9 Semi-Finalists have been announced at the 2019 Houston Symphony Ima Hogg Competition
The 9 Semi-Finalists have this week been announced for the 2019 Houston Symphony Ima Hogg Competition – in Houston, Texas, United States.
The 2018 Semi-Finalists are:
- Katherine Audas (Cello, 23)
- Ziqing Guo (Violin, 22)
- Rachel Lee Hall (Harp, 25)
- Coleman Itzkoff (Cello, 25)
- Lulu Liu (Piano, 23)
- Sunho Song (Clarinet, 23)
- Joseph Tkach (Trumpet, 21)
- Chloe Tula (Harp, 23)
- Andres Vela (Double Bass, 21)
Open to US-based pianists, violinists, violists, cellists, double bassists, flutists, oboists, clarinetists, bassoonists, hornists, trumpeters, trombonists, tubists, harpists and marimbists aged 16 and 26 who do not currently hold orchestral positions, the 1st prize winner will receive USD $25,000 – plus a concerto performance with the Houston Symphony.
The 2019 jury comprises: David Lockington, Matthew VanBesien and Soyeon Kate Lee.
Former 1st prize winners include: VC Young Artist Luke Hsu.
