Decca has this week announced the release of British cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason’s new album ‘Inspiration’

Decca Classics has this week announced the release of British cellist, VC Young Artist Sheku Kanneh-Mason’s debut album ‘Inspiration’.

Recorded with conductor Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, 'Inspiration' features Shostakovich's 1st Cello Concerto - plus a selection of parlor works including 'The Swan', 'Gladfly Suite' and new arrangements of popular classics by Leonard Cohen and Bob Marley.

Sheku has said that one of his greatest inspirations in life was the recordings of late cello luminary, Jacqueline du Pre.

"Her playing is one of the things that really inspired me ... and makes me want to continue playing the cello," the 18 year old, former BBC 'Young Musician of the Year' has said.
