Sony Classical Extends Contract With Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra

The collaboration between the Sony Classical record label and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (ORF) was first extended in 2019.

With this additional new extension of their prestigious contract, Sony Classical will be able to release recordings of the 2022 Vienna Philharmonic New Year’s Concert worldwide.

Performed on New Year’s Day, the famous annual concert was conducted by Daniel Barenboim for the third time. This year it was held in the Golden Hall of Vienna’s Musikverein and was broadcast internationally. 

The recordings of the event will be available for purchase in a range of formats including on Sony Classical Digital, CD, Vinyl, DVD, and Blu-ray. 

Sony Classical will also be releasing multi-format recordings of Vienna Philharmonic’s annual Summer Night Concert performed at Schönbrunn Palace gardens — a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site.
