Soviet violin virtuoso Boris Goldstein died on this day in 1987 – aged 65

Soviet violin virtuoso Boris Goldstein died on this day in 1987 – aged 65.

A former prize winner at the Wieniawski and Queen Elisabeth International Violin Competitions, he was once singled out by Jascha Heifetz as the USSR’s most talented young violinist.

His notable students included Zakhar Bron and Alexander Skwortsow.
