St. Paul Chamber Orchestra Cancels 2020/21 Season
The Minnesota-based chamber ensemble canceled its remainder performances through to June 2021 due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic
Like many orchestras around the country, St. Paul's past concerts will be streamed for online audiences. Its digital "Concert Library" is free to the public and contains over 60 concerts.
Since August, the orchestra has played to an empty Ordway Concert Hall and live-streamed the performances to audiences at home.
A representative of the ensemble recently indicated that even these events are canceled to the very high Covid-19 positivity rate in the community, in addition to a recent positive test at one such concert.
"There is great uncertainty as to what the upcoming year will bring, but we hope that our regular concerts can resume in fall 2021," a statement from their website reads. "With your continued support, the SPCO will get to the other side of this crisis, and we look forward to the day when we can gather again to hear wonderful music by our amazing orchestra."
