Taipei Chinese Orchestra Appoints New Principal Conductor
Taipei native Yu-An Chang began his conducting study with Apo Ching-Hsin Hsu. He then relocated to Germany, where he pursued further study with Christian Ehwald and Hans-Dieter Baum at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin.
In 2016, Chang received First Prize at the Bucharest International Conducting Competition and was subsequently named a Conducting Fellow for the 2018 edition of the Tanglewood Music Festival.
He was the Assistant Conductor at the Boston Symphony Orchestra up until 2020 and has been working in Europe, Asia, and America since.
Most recently, the Taipei Chinese Orchestra (TCO) named Chang as the orchestra's new Principal Conductor and the successor to outgoing conductor Qu Chun Quan.
"Honored and humbled to be serving as the Principal Conductor of the TCO," Chang wrote on Facebook.
