Dallas Symphony Orchestra Partners with Concert Truck to Bring Music to Local Communities
DSO players will perform accessible chamber music concerts in more than 30 locations around the city
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) will partner with the Concert Truck for a residency in local communities, following the truck's success across the country. Between May and June 2023, the Concert Truck will appear in more than 30 locations around Dallas for short concerts.
Founded by pianists Susan Yang and Nick Yuby, the Concert Truck houses a traveling stage that can be driven around and wheeled out almost anywhere. The truck brings high-quality concerts into local communities all over the United States, and was most recently seen in Dallas in 2020.
The Dallas concerts in May and June will feature small chamber-music configurations of DSO musicians, such as brass quartet or solo violin. These concerts will be made available in neighborhoods, schools, shopping centers, parks, restaurants, residential communities, and healthcare settings.
The residency begins on 17 May, 2023. To read a full list of concert locations, click here.
"We are thrilled to partner once again with The Concert Truck, continuing our ability to bring fantastic music out of the Meyerson and into Dallas communities," said Kim Noltemy, the President & CEO of the Dallas Symphony. "Our time with The Concert Truck remains a programming highlight and I hope to see many faces – new and familiar – this summer at our performances."
"We are so excited to return to Dallas this spring for the Concert Truck’s fifth residency with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, bringing more of our favorite chamber music, including works by Amy Beach, Johannes Brahms, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Florence Price, Robert and Clara Schumann, Maurice Ravel, and many others, with the incredibly talented musicians of the DSO, to communities all across the city," said the Concert Truck's founders, Zhang and Luby.
"We can’t wait to see you!"
