Prizes Awarded at Switzerland's Inaugural Tibor Junior International Violin Competition
16-year-old Masha Lakisova has been awarded 1st prize at the 2018 inaugural Tibor Junior International Violin Competition
16-year-old Masha Lakisova from the United States has been awarded 1st prize at the 2018 inaugural Tibor Junior International Violin Competition - in Sion, Switzerland.
A student of Grigory Kalinovsky, Masha is a former prize winner at the Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition and the Fischoff International Chamber Music Competition.
Open to international violinists aged 14 to 17, she will receive CHF 8,000 – plus a number of important performance opportunities.
2nd prize was awarded to 17-year-old Iris Scialom from France.
Joint 3rd prize was awarded to 16-year-old Arthur Traelnes from Switzerland and 17-year-old Qingzhu Weng from China.
This year's audience prize was awarded to Arthur Traelnes.
The 2018 jury comprised: Ana Chumachenco, Yuzuko Horigome, Myroslava Kotorovych, Gidon Kremer, Kyung Sun Lee, Svetlin Roussev and Pavel Vernikov.
