VC Artist Bomsori Kim Appointed Residentie Orkest’s Artist in Residence
The South Korean violinist will assume the role as of the 2025/26 season
The Netherlands’ Residentie Orkest has announced Bomsori Kim as its Artist in Residence for the 2025/26 concert season, during which she will perform alongside Chief Conductor Jun Märkl and Principal Guest Conductor Richard Egarr.
Bomsori made her debut with the Residentie Orkest in The Hague and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw in 2023. Her connection with the orchestra saw her immediately invited back in her upcoming role.
A graduate of Seoul National University, Bomsori is also an Artist Diploma graduate of The Juilliard School, where she studied with Sylvia Rosenberg and Ronald Copes. Among her accolades are major prizes at the Wieniawski, Montreal, Joseph Joachim, Tchaikovsky, Sendai, Sibelius, Qingdao, and ARD International Violin Competitions.
She has since performed with the New York Philharmonic, Bavarian Radio Symphony, Berlin Philharmonic, KBS Symphony Orchestra, Finnish Radio Symphony, Montreal Symphony, Helsinki Philharmonic, Munich Chamber Orchestra, and many more. In 2021, she signed an exclusive agreement with the Deutsche Grammophon label.
Her upcoming performance programs between August 2025 and May 2026 with the Residentie Orkest include works by Wieniawski, Saint-Saëns, as well as the Brahms and Sibelius violin concertos.
Since 2022, Bomsori plays the 1725 “Moller” Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù violin — generously loaned by The Samsung Foundation of Culture and The Stradivari Society of Chicago.
“A long-term collaboration gives space to show yourself and experiment together,” Bomsori said of her new role. “[The idea of being in the same, familiar places is appealing], that makes it easier to feel at home and relax. I can’t wait to enjoy myself on stage and share that pleasure with the audience.”
“Not only is Bomsori Kim incredibly talented, she visibly connects with her audience, sincerely and unfiltered,” added Sven Arne Tepl, general and artistic director of Residentie Orkest.
