VC Artist Fedor Rudin Becomes a Larsen Artist
Fedor has now joined the Denmark-based Larsen Strings as a company artist
The Russian-born French violinist and VC Artist Fedor Rudin, is officially a Larsen Artist at Larsen Strings, joining the likes of Renaud Capuçon and Anne Akiko Meyers, among others.
He currently performs on the historic 1712 “ex-Viotti” Stradivarius violin made in Cremona using Larsen’s Il Cannone Gold Violin strings.
A graduate of the Salzburg Mozarteum University, Cologne High School of Music, and Graz University of Music and Performing Arts, studying with Pierre Amoyal, Zakhar Bron, and Boris Kuschnir, as well as of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, studying conducting with Simeon Pironkoff and Vladimir Kiradjiev, Fedor is a former major prize winner at the Paganini, Enescu, and Marteau International Violin Competitions.
He has since performed with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, Norwegian Radio Orchestra, SWR Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de chambre de Paris, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and has collaborated with conductors such as Vladimir Jurowski, Andris Poga, Petr Popelka, and Lorenzo Viotti.
Having performed at major concert halls including Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie and New York’s Carnegie Hall, he has also been a guest at the Salzburg Festival, the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. In 2023, he was appointed as conductor and professor for orchestral education at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW.)
“It’s a beautiful feeling when the instrument and all its associated ‘tools’ form a symbiosis and simply work,” Fedor said. “That’s how I felt when I first tried the Larsen Cannone Gold strings on my newly borrowed Stradivarius: they not only brought out the creamy, warm, and overtone-rich sound from this wonderful instrument, but also immediately gave me the strength and resonance I absolutely need as a soloist in large concert halls, especially when I think about playing for the back row.”
“As a soloist, conductor, and chamber musician, Fedor’s artistry is enhanced by the unparalleled quality of his instrument and the precision of his chosen strings,” Larsen Strings told The Violin Channel. “This partnership marks a significant milestone for both Fedor and Larsen Strings, as they continue to push the boundaries of violin performance together.”
