Taipei National University of the Arts Appoints New Assistant Professor of Violin
Taiwanese-American VC Artist violinist Paul Huang will assume the role, effectively immediately
"It is a wonderful pleasure to join the violin faculty of Taipei National University of the Arts," Paul told The Violin Channel. "It's an honor to be able to give back to my homeland which gave me so much in the formative years of my musical life. I look forward to traveling back to Taipei more often in the coming years."
His recent performances include appearances with the Mariinsky Orchestra with Valery Gergiev, the Detroit Symphony with Leonard Slatkin, and the Houston Symphony with Andrés Orozco-Estrada — as well as filling in for Anne-Sophie Mutter at the Bravo! Vail Music Festival.
Upcoming engagements include performances with the Nürnberger Symphoniker, the Rotterdam Philharmonic, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan.
Paul has collaborated with chamber musicians including Gil Shaham, Nobuko Imai, Mischa Maisky, Lynn Harrell, Yefim Bronfman, and Marc-André Hamelin.
He currently performs on the 1742 Ex-Wieniawski Guarneri del Gesu, on generous loan from Chicago's Stradivarius Society.
